We have finally started Sport Education this term, and are learning to play frisbee. This is a slightly different way of learning to play sports, where we are more in charge of what we are learning and how we improve our skills. These are some of the most important bits about sport education:
- We work in teams of 4 or 5, so everyone takes part and gets to play;
- We all have a special job that we have to do - the jobs are warm-up coach, coach, manager and equipment manager;
- When we are not playing a game we act as time keepers, referees, score keepers and lines-people.
- We work in our teams to warm up;
- Ms Rendall gives us some advice on the skills we need to work on;
- We work in our teams to practice the skills we need to improve;
- We play the game.
These videos shows us working together to try to improve our skills - we are working on throwing and catching the frisbee.
One of the most important things we are learning in sport education is that everyone should be able to take part, and that this is more important than winning. It is also about sharing our skills and helping others if they are finding something tricky. We are also learning about more than just how to play a game because we have different jobs that we need to do as well as playing the game.
